Ginger
We met Claire about a year ago when I thought it might be “fun” to have an animal communicator come to our house to communicate with one of our dogs. Claire had been working with some of the dogs at the Aiken SPCA and I had heard about her while volunteering. I contacted her and set up the appointment; when she arrived she knew nothing about Ginger, our 5lb Maltese mix, who we wanted her to communicate with due to her being a rescue dog. We thought MAYBE we could learn something about her prior history and why she only had hair on her head and legs. The entire experience was amazing. Claire told us things about Ginger that we knew but had not told her anything about, but the most amazing part of the visit was when Claire did Reiki on Ginger. We had never seen it done before and I could not believe how it made Ginger so calm and relaxed. Ginger who did not want to communicate with Claire at first, absolutely loved the Reiki treatment that she received.
Our second time interacting with Claire has been more recently with a foster dog we named Sadie who also is from the Aiken SPCA. While volunteering time walking and socializing animals I noticed a small-medium sized black and white dog in one of the kennels who was curled up in a corner and shivering due to being so scared and not daring to make eye contact with me. I ended up taking her home as a foster because I just could not bring myself to leave that terrified little soul there and also thinking that in a couple of days she would come around with some TLC and I would take her back. A couple of days seemed to make no progress at all so once again we contacted Claire to see if she might be able to help. She was very willing to help and so she came to our house to meet and interact with Sadie. Claire gently communicated with her and gave her Reiki which settled her down to the point of her actually relaxing and closing her eyes in our presence for the first time. Claire also communicated with Sadie and softly told her that she was now in a safe place where people actually cared about her. That evening, for the first time, Sadie walked into our living room alone and joined us on the couch. Prior to her interaction with Claire we had to gently pull her out of the crate we set up for her and carry her into other rooms. We could hardly believe our eyes!
Sadie was spayed about a week later and Claire asked if it was ok for her to come to the shelter to be with her once she started coming out of the effects of the anesthesia. We got it approved by the staff and Claire again did Reiki and communicated with Sadie. We are absolutely sure that her being there helped her through the process. We have had Sadie for almost four weeks now and she is coming around slowly but surely and I see her wagging her tail often. The same tail that pretty much stayed tucked underneath her for the first few weeks and NEVER wagged.
We also received an herbal blend that Claire recommended that she tailor made for Sadie that we put in her food and also some flower essences drops to rub on her body. Claire continues to check in with us on Sadie’s progress. We highly recommend her and would not hesitate to call on her for further assistance because we know that she REALLY cares.
The compassion and genuine care that Claire has shown for Sadie over the past weeks is second to none and we know we would not be seeing the progress that we are now seeing without her help.

Broo is Diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease
Broo is my sisters twelve year old Dachshund. He is a very sweet boy that is loved by the whole family. For many years, Broo has been inflicted by severe allergies which require him to get weekly injections. Several years ago, he had a disc explode which required surgery. The surgery was successful in eliminating his pain but he never regained full ability to walk.
In early 2009, my sister and her husband noticed that Broo was drinking a lot more. When they brought him to the veterinarian, Broo was diagnosed as having Cushing’s Disease. The vet put him on an herbal blend for the Cushing’s. My sister was upset over the diagnosis and asked if I could make him some herbs to help him. After the vet’s herbs were finished, I started making him an herbal blend for the Cushing’s. Broo’svet knows that I make his herbs and she has no objections. Broo also loves Reiki so when I visit, I pick him up and he draws the Reiki Energy from my hands and falls asleep.
It has been two years since Broo has been diagnosed with Cushing’s and I’m happy to say that he has maintained his health. His little face is getting grayer but he is aging gracefully and happily.
Cancer Patient’s Experience with Reiki
I met Claire-Helene Horne through what I would call unusual circumstances. My wife informed me that she would be taking one of our dogs to see a lady who communicates with animals. I smiled and had my doubts. I wasn’t planning on going with them. A few days prior to the communication, I happened to have one of our dogs at our veterinarian’s office. Our veterinarian is a man I have trusted to care for our pets for the past 8 years and I value his opinion. I mentioned to him about animal communication and asked him for advice. He told me that some people have the ability to communicate with animals. I decided to tag along with my wife to the session. This is when I met Claire. At the session, to be quite frank, I was overwhelmed. She was telling us things that our veterinarian had already told us about our dog. So, I was able to verify everything that Claire communicated to us. After the session, I briefly told Claire about my past medical problems and a look came across her face like a light had gone off in her head. She said that our dog could very well be carrying some of my stress. She mentioned that perhaps I may be interested in Reiki. I had no idea what Reiki was, so she suggested sending me an e-mail explaining Reiki.
For you to understand why I became interested in Reiki, you have to know my medical history for the past 29 years. I have had cancer in my mouth and neck 8 times, the first time I was diagnosed as having stage IV. Over the past 29 years I have had chemotherapy, radiation, 9 surgeries, and at least 20 biopsies. My larynx was removed 15 years ago and my tongue was removed 6 years, making me a tube feeder and unable to talk. For the past 6 years I have been seen by 2 cancer specialist every month. Therefore, the amount of stress has been enormous.
Claire e-mailed me information on Reiki. After reading the e-mail about Reiki and again talking to my veterinarian who gave me a book to read about Reiki, I made an appointment to see Claire to discuss it further. Then I decided to start the Reiki sessions. The sessions have had an enormous effect on me. My wife has also noticed a change in me. I am less stressed, more relaxed, I cope much better and I have a better outlook on life. After a couple of Reiki sessions, I started feeling intense heat in my neck while receiving treatments, and I also felt myself sighing while receiving treatments. The book I was reading on Reiki explained that the heat I was feeling was normal; that it was the energy that Claire was passing on to me and the sighing was also normal. Reiki has had a positive effect on me both physically and mentally. I am very thankful that I met Claire and for the changes in my life that have been given to me through Reiki.
Booty Update
To whom it may concern:
Around 3 years ago we first met with Claire-Helene Horne. Our beautiful 17 yr. old yellow tiger cat, Booty had a very bad lower back and back leg problem. She came to see him and I was so impressed with her. Her first question was “What do you expect of me?” I told her I knew she could not make him young and full of life again, but if she just could ease his pain, that would be more than enough. She did that and more. She gave him an extra 3 years, free from pain. He had not been able to jump up on the couch for several years and after her pain treatment, he could get up on the couch and move about without as much soreness as before.
If ever your beloved pet needs help she is the one to go to.
We will always be grateful to this great lady for what she did for our sweet Booty.
Sincerely,
Carol and John Pissinis

Night Encounter
A friend and I had attended a woman’s meeting one night. As we reached her car after leaving, we realized that we had forgotten a chair, so I returned to pick it up. As I entered into the backyard, the owner was outside with his dog Taz. He started barking and pulling the leash to see who was coming onto his territory. So I let Taz smell me and check me out as I was speaking with the owner. Taz seemed fine after a couple of minutes, so I went to pat him. He started to growl and lunge at me and he appeared to want to bite me so I pulled back. He stopped and seemed okay once more than he went back to growling, lunging and wanting to take a chunk out of me.
So, I stayed still, put my hands down by my legs with the palms facing him and started to send him Reiki as well as messages that I was not going to hurt him. All of a sudden, I felt this huge ball of sadness and pain come up into my chest. This is what Taz was carrying around with him. I asked the owner if Taz was a rescue, he said no that the neighbor who used to be his owner had passed away and they had taken him in. Poor Taz was confused that his owner had just left him and never come back, he missed him so much. I communicated to Taz that he was not the cause for his master leaving and that he had passed. I asked the owner if they were keeping Taz; he said yes, so I relayed the message to Taz since he did not realize that this was his new forever home. I told the owner to regularly tell Taz that this was his new home and that he was staying with them for good. All along I kept sending him Reiki, as well as positive reinforcement that he was a good boy. All of a sudden that ball of sadness and pain disappeared.
By this time his wife had come out so we discussed how Taz behaved with them. Taz took them for a walk, pulling them the whole time. He was also a handful in the house. So I suggested they change his collar to a harness, to exercise him regularly including taking him running when she ran in the morning. Again, I reinforced the importance that he be told that he was in his forever home, he was loved and that he was a good boy. Taz let me pat him at this time without any signs of aggression.
A few weeks later I saw Taz. He came running to me, put his paws around my waist and his head on one side of my stomach, hugging me and thanking me for our night encounter. He was like a different dog. His spirit had lightened, he was happy, content and more secure. The harness was helping with him being walked and he now ran with his Human Mom in the morning. His behavior had improved all around, he listened better and seemed much happier.
Taz is always happy to see me whenever I visit. He now has a sister Lacy. Taz has taken on the role of teacher to Lacy who is now the newcomer to their home.
Searching for Switch!
I first met Switch in October of this year. His owner, Chandler, asked me to come over to communicate with her kitty because in a 2 week period, he had killed 4 birds. Chandler was not happy with the fact that he enjoyed killing birds so much. Chandler made it clear that he was to stop killing birds right away otherwise, he would stay indoors. Switch relunctantly said that he wanted to continue being an outside cat so he would try to stop hunting birds.
On Monday this week, Chandler called me to say that Switch had stopped killing birds since I spoke to him. Yeah!!!! Great news! Unfortunately, her next statement was that Switch was missing since last Wednesday. Switch went out in the morning and did not come home when he was called. Chandler went away for the long Thanksgiving weekend but her friend came over to animal sit while they were away. Food was left out for Switch but it was not touched. Upon her return, she looked for Switch but he could not be found and he did not return home. Chandler asked me to communicate with Switch to see if I could tell her where he was. She would go pick him up or I could tell him to come home. I told her that I would speak with him and get back to her.
I communicated with Switch shorthly afterwards. I could tell that he was outside as I could see trees and clouds. I asked if he knew where he was. The reply was no. I asked if he could go home. I got simultaneous answers No/Yes. I told him that Chandler was worried about him. He replied that he knew. I suddenly saw him laying on the ground, unresponsive. I asked ”Are you dead?” The response was yes. The communication continued. Switch assured me that he could not physically return home as he was no longer living. Our session ended.
I doubted my abilities and the messages I received. I thought that maybe I was getting in the way so I communicated with Switch again later in the afternoon.
- Switch can we talk? “Yes”
- Where are you? “Gone”
- Are you dead? “Yes you know!”
- What happened? “Car going too fast – wasn’t paying attention.”
- Are you at peace? “Yes”
Again we ended our communication. I took a few breaths and I called Chandler. I said that I asked Switch to go home. She started to ask if I communicated with him so I said that I believed that he was gone. How do you gently relate this information to a parent/owner? It sounds so harsh! I told her that I hoped that I was wrong and I tried to give her some hope that he might come back. I still encouraged her to go put out flyers of Switch and she still went to search for him or his body after we spoke. I asked her to let me know if she got any news but he still has not come home.
This communication was very difficult, however, I hope that in time, it will bring Chandler some closure.
Ferral Cat “Booty”
In September 2009, Booty’s owners contacted me to see if I could help their 18 year old ferral cat. Booty was arthritic from the middle of his back into his hips and down to his knees. Sometimes he would fall when walking. He had a really bad episode which had brought Booty to the vet. He was sent home with morphine for the pain. When needed he was given 4 drops of morphine. His owners, Carol and John wanted to try something natural for Booty as they hated the effects of the morphine on their cat.
After a thorough consultation, I recommended my Super Healthy Powder since he ate rice, oatmeal, cantalope, ground turkey, and vegetables. Healthy Powder is a rich mixture of nutrients that provides adequate minerals and vitamins. Prior to my visit, I made a flower essence blend for Booty’s arthritis. The essence is gently massaged on his back and joints twice a day. I also recommended an arthritic herbal blend. The owners agreed to the recommended plan.
Two months later, Carol told me that Booty was now jumping up on the couch, something that he had not been able to do in two years. She said that Booty was not very graceful in his jumps but she was very happy about his progress. She said that he was feeling so much better that he occasionally he behaved like a kitty. A couple of weeks ago, I spoke to Carol and Booty is still doing very well.
Super Healthy Powder is available for purchase.
Heidi’s Kidney Disease
Heidi was diagnosed with kidney disease in May, 2008. The veterinarian put her on a low protein diet. I discussed a homemade diet for her but he felt that the “Vet recommended kidney food” was a much better choice for her. So we bought some canned food for her but we kept her on this diet for only a few days.
When we got home from the veterinarian, I immediately started researching homemade canine low-protein diets. Soon after, I started making her food using the “Canine Diet for Kidney Problems” from Dr. Pitcairn’s book “Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs & Cats.” Since homemade food needs to have the proper supplements, at first I used the basic Healthy Powder recipe that Dr. Pitcairn outlined in his book. However, in time, I changed the recipe to what I call “Claire’s Super Healthy Powder” which is filled with rich minerals, vitamins and supplements that dogs and cats require.
Our older Sheltie Lindsey also has liver/kidney issues so he is on the same diet as Heidi and they both love their homemade all natural diet. Heidi and all of our Shelties get herbs on a daily basis. Heidi’s herbal blend helps support her urinary system especially her kidneys, nervous and cardiovascular systems plus more. Each of our Shelties have their own herbal blends based on their individual needs. With good nutrition, herbal supplementation and regular Reiki sessions, she is doing great.
When Heidi was first diagnosed with kidney disease in 2008, her BUN count was 60 and Creatine 1.7. In March 2009 her BUN was 68 and Creatine 2.2 and in May 2010 her BUN and Creatine remained unchanged. I believe that Heidi’s kidney stability is evidence that proper nutrition and herbs help her to maintain her health. Of course, having a loving home is also very beneficial to her mental and overall wellbeing.
Treatment for Honda
Honda is a sweet kitty that was recently rescued from a shelter along with her sister, Destiny. Unfortunately, Destiny died within three days of being taken home due to a low immune system, and having been spayed and vaccinated the day prior to her adoption. Adam and Bonnie were devastated by the loss of their beautiful Destiny. Although they had been reassured by the shelter that Honda was healthy, they took her for a thorough exam at their vet’s. Honda was diagnosed as having respiratory issues and herpes virus in her eyes. She was put on antibiotics and lysine immediately and followed by the vet very closely for several weeks.
Bonnie and Adam wanted to strengthen Honda’s immune system, along with her respiratory system and try to control the herpes virus outbreaks. I recommended that they start to give her herbs right away. Since she was only 9 weeks old, they started to give her the herbal blend in a tea form. When she reached about 14 weeks, they started to mix the dry herbal blend into her food which Honda readily accepted. At Honda’s follow-up visits at the veterinarian, she has been very pleased with her recovery. Although, Honda is still congested, she is a healthy, happy and playful kitten.
Talking with Olive
Sweet Olive is a 16-month old active Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. She hikes and plays every day with her Mom, Tara. Over the last 14 months she has tweaked her shoulder four times and Tara did not want to go to the extreme of putting Olive under anesthesia for x-rays, so she came to me for help.
Olive is a shy girl who doesn’t like to complain. Therefore, Olive felt embarrassed when she realized that the purpose of my visit was to see her. She didn’t want her Mom to worry about her shoulder so she was not very open to communicating with me. She even hid a little behind Tara for protection. With Tara’s reassurance, she eventually told me that her shoulder hurt her all the time but sometimes it was worse. When asked about her recent episode, she didn’t really know how she tweaked it but it appeared that it was due to landing on the ground too hard while she was playing. Later, I received a message that her shoulder ailment was a result of having been dropped when she was a puppy. Consequently, she has a weakness in her shoulder area.
Olive is happiest when she is outside especially in the woods running, jumping and exploring. It was clear to me that keeping her inactive so she could recuperate from her shoulder injury was not an option for her emotional wellbeing. Instead, I recommended to Tara to continue to keep Olive active but to take her on hiking trails that were less challenging and to moderate the length of time they were hiking. Olive was given a Reiki treatment from a few feet since she felt more comfortable that way. After the treatment, she took a nice nap.
When Olive was rested, I examined her with the help of Tara and “treats”. I found that her lower cervical and upper thoracic areas were inflamed. I gently massaged her while showing Mom how to do this regularly to help with the circulation. My findings were similar to those of the veterinarian and Tara decided that x-rays were unnecessary at this time. Olive was grateful for my visit and wanted Mom to know how much she loves her.
